Connect Claude or ChatGPT to your to-do list
There are two ways AI meets your tasks in SceneTasks, and they're deliberately different: built-in features that run only when you click them, and a connection that lets your own AI assistant work with your tasks directly.
Connect Claude or ChatGPT over MCP
SceneTasks is an MCP server (Model Context Protocol, the open standard AI assistants use to talk to tools). Connect it once and your assistant can, in plain conversation:
- list and search your tasks ("what's on my plate this week?")
- create tasks with due dates, times, repeats, estimates, and hide-until dates ("add trash day every Tuesday at 7:45am")
- update and complete tasks, with every side effect handled properly: repeats respawn, synced tasks complete in Google or Microsoft too, calendar events clean themselves up
Setup is one URL and one click of OAuth: point Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP-capable client at scenetasks.com/api/mcp and approve the connection. Tokens are yours to revoke anytime in Settings, and conversations flow between you and your AI provider under your own account with them, not through us.
Built-in AI, strictly on demand
Inside the app, AI features run only when you press their button:
- Quick add parses "gym every monday 7am, remind me" into a fully-scheduled repeating task with a reminder, and splits compound notes into separate tasks.
- Plan my week reads your open tasks, your routines, and your linked calendars (Google and Microsoft together) and suggests when things realistically fit.
- Breakdowns and estimates turn a scary task into steps and give it a time guess you can adjust.
- Screenshot to tasks turns a photo of a list, a whiteboard, or an email into bubbles.
Every plan includes every AI feature with a monthly allowance; the Max plan removes the cap. Nothing is ever sent to an AI provider unless you invoke a feature, and none of it trains anyone's models: the details are in the privacy policy.
